This Week in Third Grade~~December 9th through 12th, 2019

Please read through our plans for this week, as well as, homework information/due dates and dates to remember.

Spelling:  List #C12 Ending with -ed/-ing

Spelling test will be on Thursday, Dec 12th this week.  Spelling City assignments are due by Sunday 12/8/19

ELA:  English Language Arts:

• Grammar--Verb Tenses
• Reading--Ask and Answer Questions in Fiction text
• Mouse and the Motorcycle triorama project.
• Vocabulary-- smudge, disgruntled, imitate, extravagant and witty.  We will cover 5 vocabulary words in class. WOW Word:  tricycle. The WOW words are focusing on prefixes and suffixes.  
• Writing-- Work on developing a piece of writing focusing on personal narratives.  

Math:

• We have started our enVision Math program.  It is common for the homework to take a little longer in the beginning as students get used to the program, flow and the style of questioning. Homework will be on every Tuesday and Thursday and is due the following day for 5 points in the gradebook.  Homework is a very important part of learning and retaining all that they are learning in class.  
• Tuesday, December 10th:  Topic 3 Assessment
• Thursday, December 12th: Fact Families and times tables

Science:

• Mystery Science:  What's the best way to get rid of mosquitoes?
• STEAM project: Elf challenge

Technology: 

• Students will become familiar with the different websites we will use in class and how to find the links on our class blog page.  
• Students will work on typing skills.

Snack:

• We will stop each morning at 10:00 am to have a snack since our lunch is so late in the afternoon (12:38 pm) Please help your 3rd grader remember to grab a snack so they will be able to continue their focus.  

Homework:

• Reading Homework (This is for a grade):
• December Reading calendars were sent home the first week of December. 400 minutes for the month will be worth 100%. 
• **November Reading Calendar due now. Parent signature required. If you have misplaced the calendar a note with how many minutes your child read with your signature or an email from you will work.
• Math Homework:  (This is for a grade)
• Tuesday, December 10th:  Fact Families and Times Tables.  * Homework due Wednesday 12/11/19.
• Thursday, December 12th:  Fact Families and Times Tables. * Homework due Monday, December 16th.
• Spelling Homework:
• List #C12 Endings -ed/-ing and any unfinished Spelling City Assignments. Spelling City login is child's firstnamelastname and password is Vision 2019.

• Specials: 
• Music and PE will be meeting more than once a week.  The schedule is to the right, on our class blog page.  Please encourage your child to dress in appropriate clothing and shoes for the PE days. 

Dates to Remember:

• Class Christmas party on Wednesday, December 18th, from  1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.  An email to sign up will be sent separately.
• Christmas Break will be from December 21st through January 5th, 2020.
