Spelling Test will be on Thursday, January 31st due to no school on Friday.

Reading/ELA:
  • Working on Verb Tenses 
  • Informational Writing unit.
  • We are just finished reading our class novel, Runaway Ralph.  We will finish our vocabulary and comprehension packet and enjoy the short movie this week.
  • Vocabulary focus will be continued:  clarify, spare, strain, remain and exotic.
    • Wow word (working with words that have prefixes and suffixes):  misconduct 
Math:
  • This week we are diving into Topic 5 Fluently Multiply and Divide within 100.
  • Monday:  Lesson 5-3: Finding Missing Numbers in a Multiplication Table  
  • Wednesday:  Lesson 5-4: Using Strategies to Multiply 
  • Homework will be on Monday and Wednesday evening this week.Homework is due the following morning. Five points will be added in the grade book for homework returned and completed.  Students who forget their homework can log on to enVision which is a link on the right side of this blog page. The homework that would have been on the page is on the website.  I will list the lesson number below under homework.   
Science:

    • Monday, January 28th:  Lesson 5-3 Finding Missing Numbers in a Multiplication Table
    • Wednesday, January 30th:  Using Strategies to Multiply.

Valentine's Information: 
  • Students will need to make a Valentine container to bring to school on Thursday, February 14th (please do not send in sooner).  
  • Please make sure your child's name is visible on the container so students passing out cards can see it.  
  • I will send a list of student names in an email. 
  • We will pass out valentines, students can go through their containers and enjoy any treats while watching a short Charlie Brown Valentine movie.  We are not having a formal party.
  • If you would like to send in treats that is fine. We would prefer healthy treats as they will most likely have plenty of candy treats from friends.  
Snow Day Information:
  • In the event that school is closed for snow days exceeding 2 days, students will need to complete 4 hours to count the day as a school day.  I am sending home a snow day packet with work outlined for the four hours that would need to be separated from the packet and returned to school once school resumes.  I will send an electronic copy as well as a paper copy and will email parents to let them know when those days of school work would need to be completed.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  If we have only 1 or 2 snow days, no work from the packet would be required.  I will always email when work would be needed.

  • Beginning Informational Writing unit.
  • We are starting our next class novel, Runaway Ralph. 
  • Vocabulary focus will be:  lob, tremble, skeptic, propose, inflate.

Math:
  • This week we will be finishing Topic 4:  Using Multiplication to Divide.
  • Monday: 4-9  Make sense of a problem and persevere in solving it.
  • Wednesday:  Unit 4 review.  Review papers will be sent home to prepare for unit test on Friday, January 11th. 
  • Homework will be on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Homework is due the following morning.
