Week of May 20th through 24th, 2019

LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL!

Wow! This year has flown by! 

Monday 5/20:  Summer Birthday Celebration and biography presentations

Tuesday 5/21:  Show Off Day in Music Class.
Biography presentations and gathering up materials to bring home.

Wednesday 5/22:  Field Day from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.  Wear clothing for activities outside including shoes for running,etc.  Water bottles are encouraged and students may bring sunscreen if they want to.  

Thursday 5/23:  Awards day 
           8:20 am to 9:00 am Second and Third grades
           9:05 am to 9:45 am Kindergarten and First grades
           9:50 am to 10:30 am  Fourth and Fifth grades

Friday 5/24:  Last Day with early release at 1:40 pm

Report cards won't be sent home on the last day of school but will be mailed out by the school to the address we have on file.  If you have moved and need to update your address please call the office at 208-455-9220 so we can make sure to get your child's report card to you.

  • Homework will be on Monday and Wednesday evenings this week. Homework is due the following morning. Five points will be added in the grade book for homework returned and completed.  Students who forget their homework can log on to enVision which is a link on the right side of this blog page. The homework that would have been on the page is on the website.  I will list the lesson number below under homework.   
Science: Science Fair Project Presentations on Thursday

    • Monday:  Lesson 17-1  Place Value Relationships
    • Wednesday:  Lesson 17-2  Mental Math: Multiplying by Multiples of 10, 100, and 1,000.
  • Reading 
    • We are done with reading calendars but I can still take any missing March or April calendars for grades.  Email, note or calendars signed are fine.
Countdown to the last day!
         We will pop a balloon each day to find out what fun activity we will do the following day.  Check emails each day to find out what we will be doing!  

Dates to remember:
  • Science Fair:  May 16th 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm in high school gym for grades 2nd through 5th.  Every student needs to make their own project at home.

 Week of May 6th through 9th, 2019

We have one more day of testing for the iStation (IRI) and a four day week so we will resume our spelling list next week.  

Reading/ELA:
  • Grammar:  Simple and Compound Sentences
  • We read the biography on Helen Keller and students have chosen a biography they are interested in reading about.  This will be done in class.  Students who have not finished reading their book may end up bringing it home to finish.  We will start presenting the week of May 13th through 17th.  
    • Vocabulary focus: Review for test 
Math:
          Topic 16:  Perimeter
  • Monday:  Lesson 16-2  Perimeter and Common Shapes
  • Wednesday:  Lesson 16-3 Perimeter and Unknown Side Lengths.

State Testing information:
     Third grade will do their final iStation (formerly IRI) this week.  They will  be tested on fluency, spelling, comprehension and vocabulary on chromebooks.  

Science Fair:
    I sent home the science fair packet before Spring Break as a guide to help you help your child with their science fair project.  The packet does not need to be turned in, only your child's finished science fair project covering the scientific process.  Projects can not be stored so please do not send to school until Friday, May 16th.  
  • Projects are worth 100 points and each student is expected to do one and present it in class.  Grading will be 100% for doing the project and presenting or 0% for no project.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  
Dates to remember:

  • NO SCHOOL: Friday, May 10th. 
  • Starting in May:  Sharing Days, schedule will be sent in emails.
