**Test will be on Friday, September 14th. Spelling tests will be the last day of the school week and a new list will be sent home.
Reading/ELA:
- Asking Questions when reading a text.
- We will continue our vocabulary focus. Hopefully you will start hearing these words added to their vocabulary!
- Our words this week are: assemble grumble calculate elegant privilege.
- Our WOW word will be: prearrange
- Our novel is Wonder by R.J. Palacio. I am reading this aloud to the class.
- This week our lesson focus will be on Multiplication as Repeated Addition.
- Homework will be on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Homework is due the following morning. Five points will be added in the gradebook for homework returned and completed. Students who forget their homework can log on to enVision which is a link on the right side of this blog page. The homework that would have been on the page is on the website. I will list the lesson number below under homework.
- Math Test on Friday over lessons 1-1 through 1-6. We will review on Thursday.
Science:
- Scientific Process: Focusing on identifying the problem, finding a possible solution, trying to solve with the materials provided and solving the problem.
Chromebooks: Learning about the different education programs that are linked on our class blog page and practicing math and ELA standards for third grade.
Character Education Focus:
- Our September focus will be on TRUSTWORTHINESS.
- Being reliable; do what you say you’ll do
- Having the courage to do the right thing
- Being loyal; stand by your friends
- Being honest
- Not deceiving, cheating or stealing
Homework:
- Math homework
- Monday, September 10th: Topic 1, Lesson 1-4 The Commutative property.
- Tuesday, September 11th: Topic 1, Lesson 1-5 Division as sharing
- Wednesday, September 12th: Topic 1, Lesson 1-6 Division as Repeated Subtraction.
- Reading homework-20 minutes minimum per evening. Put minutes on reading calendar which will be due the first week of October. Reading homework requirement is 400 minutes per month for 100% in grade book. Starting with the October reading calendar, students who read at least 400 minutes for the month and turn it in the first week of November will receive a free personal pizza coupon for Pizza Hut in addition to their grade.
