This Week in Third Grade~~January 13th through 17th, 2020

We are starting our third quarter already!!! Please read through our plans for this week, as well as, homework information/due dates and dates to remember.

Spelling:  List #C14 Commonly Confused Words

Spelling test will be on Friday the 17th this week.  Spelling City assignments are due by Sunday 1/19/20

ELA:  English Language Arts:

• Grammar--Helping Verbs
• Reading--Ask and Answer Questions in Fiction text
• Continuing our new book:  Runaway Ralph 
• Vocabulary-- partial,elaborate, conceal, blunt, and quarrel.  We will cover 5 vocabulary words in class. WOW Word:  preventable.WOW words are focusing on prefixes and suffixes. 
• Writing-- Work on developing a piece of writing focusing on personal narratives.  

Math:

• Tuesday, January 14th:  Lesson 4.3 Use Multiplication to Divide with 6 and 7.  Homework due Wednesday the 15th.
• Thursday, January 16th:  Lesson 4.4  Use Multiplication to Divide 8 and 9.  Homework due Friday the 17th.
•  Homework will be on every Tuesday and Thursday and is due the following day for 5 points in the gradebook.  Homework is a very important part of learning and retaining all that they are learning in class.  

Science:

• Mystery Science Lesson 8:  Where Do Clouds Come From?

Technology: 

• Students will become familiar with the different websites we will use in class and how to find the links on our class blog page.  
• Students will work on typing skills.

Snack:

• We will stop each morning at 10:00 am to have a snack since our lunch is so late in the afternoon (12:38 pm) Please help your 3rd grader remember to grab a snack so they will be able to continue their focus.  

Homework:

• Reading Homework (This is for a grade):
• December Reading calendars are due by January 8th. January reading calendars will be sent home on Monday, January 6th.  Reading homework is graded on 400 or more minutes of at home reading and is part of your child's grade worth 100 points.
• Math Homework:  (This is for a grade)
• Tuesday, January 14th:  Lesson 4.3 Use Multiplication to Divide with 6 and 7.  Homework due Wednesday the 15th.

• List #C14 Commonly Confused Words and any unfinished Spelling City Assignments. Spelling City login is child's firstnamelastname and password is Vision 2019.

• Specials: 
• Music and PE will be meeting more than once a week.  The schedule is to the right, on our class blog page.  Please encourage your child to dress in appropriate clothing and shoes for the PE days.
