This Week in Third Grade~~November 4th through 7th, 2019

Please read through our plans for this week, as well as, homework information/due dates and dates to remember.

Spelling test will be on Thursday, November 7th this week.  Spelling City assignments are due by Sunday 11/10/19.

ELA:  English Language Arts:

• Grammar- -Concrete and Abstract Nouns
• Reading--setting goals
• Vocabulary-- lob,  tremble,  skeptic,  propose  and inflate. WOW Word- assessment   We will cover 5 vocabulary words in class.  The WOW words are focusing on prefixes and suffixes.  
• Writing-- Work on developing a piece of writing focusing on personal narratives.  

Math:

• We have started our enVision Math program.  It is common for the homework to take a little longer in the beginning as students get used to the program, flow and the style of questioning. Homework will be on every Tuesday and Thursday and is due the following day for 5 points in the gradebook.  Homework is a very important part of learning and retaining all that they are learning in class.  
• Tuesday, November 5th:  Topic 3 Lesson 3.1 Distributive Property  *Homework due Wednesday Nov. 6th
• Thursday, November 7th:   Topic 3 Lesson 3.2 Apply Properties:  3 as a factor *Homework due Monday Nov. 11th.

Science:

• How Do We Know What Dinosaurs Looked Like?

Technology: 

• Students will become familiar with the different websites we will use in class and how to find the links on our class blog page.  
• Students will work on typing skills.

Snack:

• We will stop each morning at 10:00 am to have a snack since our lunch is so late in the afternoon (12:38 pm) Please help your 3rd grader remember to grab a snack so they will be able to continue their focus.  

Homework:

• Reading Homework (This is for a grade):
• I sent home the November calendar on Monday 11/1/19. **At the end of the month, the calendar will need to have a parent signature and total of minutes read and students need to turn it in with 5 days after the month ends.  Third grade students are required to read at least 400 minutes a month which works out to be about 20 minutes nightly for 20 days a month minimum.  This also goes in the grade book.

• List #C8 /ow/ words and any unfinished Spelling City activities.

• Specials: 
• Music and PE will be meeting more than once a week.  The schedule is to the right, on our class blog page.  Please encourage your child to dress in appropriate clothing and shoes for the PE days. 

Dates to Remember:

• Friday, November 8th:  Parent Teacher Conferences:  An email was sent to parents to let you know about conferences.  Please email me if you did not get the parent teacher conference information email.
• No School on Friday, November 8th for conferences.
