The Week of March 11th through 14th, 2019

**3rd Quarter ends on Friday, March 22nd.  

Spelling:  No new list for this week.  Students who have retake opportunities should use this week to get their work turned in before the end of the quarter of Friday.

Reading/ELA:

• Using commas in addresses.
• Informational Writing unit.
• We are enjoying our new class novel. Trumpet of the Swans by E.B. White!
• Vocabulary focus:  Going over Unit 2 test.

Math:

          Topic 12:  Fractions

• Monday:  Lesson 12-3  Understand the Whole
• Tuesday:  Lesson 12-4  Number Line:  Fractions Less Than 1.
• Wednesday:  Lesson 12-5 Number Line:  Fractions Greater than 1.
• Homework will be on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings this week.Homework is due the following morning. Five points will be added in the grade book for homework returned and completed.  Students who forget their homework can log on to enVision which is a link on the right side of this blog page. The homework that would have been on the page is on the website.  I will list the lesson number below under homework.   

Science: Plants:  Why do plants grow flowers?  Why do plants give us fruits?

• Reading
•  Homework-20 minutes minimum per evening.  Put minutes on reading calendar which will be due the first week of October.  Reading homework requirement is 400 minutes per month for 100% in grade book.  Starting with the October reading calendar, students who read at least 400 minutes for the month and turn it in the first week of November will receive a free personal pizza coupon for Pizza Hut in addition to their grade.
• February Reading calendars are late.  Please send immediately if your child has not turned it in.  I accept the calendar, a parent note or email.  *400 minutes for the month earns 100%.  
• March  Reading Calendars are due Monday, April 2nd, 2019. 
• Any missing Reading Calendars for January and February are due now.  3rd quarter ends on Friday, March 22nd.  

Dates to remember:

• Wednesday, March 20th:  Field trip to Nampa Civic Center to enjoy "Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat!" Please send in signed permission slip and $4 door fee.  Due by Thursday, March 14th. 
• End of 3rd Quarter on Friday, March 22nd.
• Spring Break Week:  March 25th through 29th, 2019.
• Science Fair:  May 16th 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm
