  • Spelling Test will be this Friday, January 19th, 2018.
Reading and Language Arts:
  • We are continuing to read our class novel, Runaway Ralph by Beverly Cleary.  We are doing a comprehension and vocabulary packet along with the reading.
  • Student will take a test at the end of the book and can use their packet to answer the questions.
  • Continuing to work on our commas packet and where they should be placed in a series of words, addresses and in dialogue.
  • Winter reading assessments.

Math:
  • We are working on a review of the multiplication and division we have learned this year.  We will not have paper math homework this week.
  • We are really working on quick recall of multiplication facts. We will be testing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on our multiplication facts.  As soon as a child finishes the 2's, for example, they move on to 3's and so forth.  This is not for a grade but is so important for using multiplication in all areas of math.  Practicing flashcards at home will help get those facts into long term memory.
Science:
  • Weather and Conditions

Homework:
  • December Reading calendars were due last week.  If your child has not turned it in please have them do so.  Reading calendars are for a grade. Four hundred minutes or more a month is 100%.
  • Practice Spelling words from List #8 /ow/
  • Math homework is to practice multiplication facts using flashcards or writing down all of the facts from the 1's family through the 12's for practice.
  • *** Some students do not have working headphones to use at school.  If it is possible for you to replace your child's broken headphones that would be great.  If you cannot at this time I will work on getting some extra headphones.

Dates to Remember:
  • No School on Friday, January 26th for parent-teacher conferences.  I will contact about conferences next week.
  • Valentine's Day party on Wednesday, Feb. 14th.  Students will need to make or buy a container for their valentines and treats with their name clearly displayed.  Students can address their cards with a child's name or they can just write "To my friend," and then sign their name.  Whatever they would like to do is fine.  We will celebrate at the end of the day (after Technology class 2:20 pm) and it will be very simple.  Students will pass out Valentines and then enjoy going through their goodies.  If anyone wants to send in any treats that would be great also.
****Please remind your child to bring a snack to have at our morning break (10:30 am) since they don't eat lunch until 1:00 pm.
