Math:
- CCSS: Finding related multiplication facts by adding and subtracting equal groups using array models, model the distributive property with arrays to decompose units as a strategy to multiply, model division as the unknown factor in multiplication using arrays and tape diagrams. The Distributive property says that multiplying a number by a group of numbers added together is the same as doing each multiplication separately
Example: 3 × (2 + 4) = 3×2 + 3×4
So the "3" can be "distributed" across the "2+4" into 3 times 2 and 3 times 4.
So the "3" can be "distributed" across the "2+4" into 3 times 2 and 3 times 4.
- Math4Today: word problems using addition and subtraction to solve, 3 digit addition and subtraction, graphs and rounding in 10's and 100's, beginning fractions when using shapes.

Homework for this week: Students will have paper math homework Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week. Thursday should be 30 minutes of IXL reaching 80% or higher on the skills they work on. Nightly reading for about 20 minutes and marking it on their reading calendar.
Scholastic Book Orders: I will be sending home a set of book orders from Scholastic this week. The orders will be due by September 26th. There are lots of great choices to keep your third grader reader immersed in great stories! You can order with cash or check by sending the order in to school by Monday the 26th or order online using a credit/debit card by clicking on the link on my blog page and the code GWNL2 for our class. I use the teacher points that accrue from book orders to purchase more wonderful books for our classroom library!
Date to Remember:
Tuesday: Pizza orders due for Wednesday lunch. (The senior class sells pizza every week to raise money for their class trip at the end of the year. Students can purchase a slice of cheese or pepperoni for $1 each. We collect the orders and money on Tuesdays and the students receive their pizza at their lunch time on Wednesday. Students cannot purchase pizza on Wednesday.
Friday, September 23rd: No school for students. Teacher grading day.
- No swimming this week. Thank you to the wonderful volunteer parents and grandparents who have met us at the Y to help the kids have a safe and enjoyable learning time in the pool! I appreciate you so much!
Reminder: Please remind your child to bring a snack each day, especially those eating hot lunch as we eat very late in our day at 12:40 pm. We stop each day at 10:20 am for a snack to keep ourselves fueled up for learning!
