Reading: Reading a chapter book on our reading level. Reading in small groups. Beginning Jungle Book read aloud which is our book of the year selection and the theme for our October celebration on Oct. 29th.
Language: Spelling words list #2 working on short a and long a patterns such as a in fast (short sound) and a in make (long a sound); grammar skills, writing using details, parts of speech. Spelling test for list #2 will be on Thursday, October 8th, 2015.

Math: Modeling the relationship between multiplication and division using tape diagrams and writing number sentences (equations); using the distributive property to decompose units-using division and and arrays to solve problems; solving 2 step word problems using multiplication and division to show the answers are equal and reasonable. Math4Today: Rounding numbers to the nearest ten and adding, counting by 100, telling time, using <,>,= to compare two numbers, solving problems with three digit numbers using adding and subtracting.
Homework: This week students will have math homework on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (due Monday morning). They will also need to do spelling homework and nightly reading. September calendars are due by Monday, October 5th. October reading calendar will go home with students on Wednesday.

- Tuesday, Sept 29th: Pizza orders due. $1 a slice of cheese or pepperoni. Pizza day is on Wednesday.
- Thursday, October 1st: Jeans day for $1 and snack shack open during recess.
- Thursday, October 1st from 4 pm to close- Vision day at Farmstead! Who will kiss the pig? Mr Berg or Mr McDougal? Who ever has the most money in their jar on Thursday will pucker up for a porky kiss! Send your money to the office to fill up your teacher choice!
- Friday, October 2nd: No school for students. Teacher Inservice day.
