Reading and Language Arts:


  • Mountain Language Packet
  • Grammar Rule #13  The verb in a sentence must agree with the subject of the sentence.  If the subject is singular, the verb must be singular.  For example:  Our apple tree blooms in April.  If the subject is plural, the verb must be plural.  For example:  Most apple trees bloom in April.
  • Parts of Speech Grammar Packet- Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Article Adjectives, adverbs and types of sentences. 
  • Continuing our new class book, Ralph S. Mouse  and our comprehension booklet that goes with it.
  • Working on vocabulary word of the week:  accurate
Math:
Lesson 5 homework
  • CCSS:  Lesson 6-  Build non-unit fractions less than one whole from unit fractions.

  • Math 4 Today. 
  • Reviewing third grade math skills
  • CCSS:  Lesson 5-Partition a whole into equal parts and define the parts to identify unit fractions numerically.

Homework:
  • Students will have paper homework for math on Tuesday and Wednesday and they are due the following days.  (5 points each)
  • February Reading calendars will be due on March 3rd.  If you misplace the calendar, a note or an email will work as well. (100 points)
  • Monday and Wednesday students will do 30 minutes of IXL on Fractions.  Look for the yellow stars.
  • Reading on MyOn is always a choice and can be recorded on your reading calendar for minutes read.  

Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration week:  It's Dr. Seuss's birthday on March 2nd and the National Read Across America Celebration as well. So we thought it would be fun to participate in the following ways:
  • Tuesday:  "Sock"ceed in Reading!  (Wear wild socks!)
  • Wednesday:  Seuss, So cool to read! (Wear sunglasses or cool hats)
  • Thursday:  Dr. Seuss's birthday!  (Dress up like Dr. Seuss or character from his books. 
  • Friday:  Curl up with a good book! (Wear Pajamas and if you have a favorite Dr. Seuss book you can bring it, too! 
  • All school dress code modesty rules apply. Those not participating will need to wear school dress code.  
  • This is what our classroom will be doing so please check your other children's classroom blogs and newsletters for information about how they will be celebrating.  

Dates to Remember:
  • Order pizza on Tuesday to eat pizza for lunch on Wednesday. $1 a slice for pepperoni or cheese.
  • Thursday, March 2nd: Dr. Seuss's Birthday.  See the activities for this week with Dr. Seuss above.  
  • These are the days we have left to make up from the snow days
    • March 10th, April 21st and May 5th.
  • Spring Break is March 20th through 28th, 2017.  
  • Please remind your child to bring a snack each day as we take a short break at 10:30 am to keep us going until our lunch time at 12:40 pm.

  • Mountain Language Packet
  • Grammar Rule #12 A verb tells what is happening to the noun. Action verbs:  show an action.  My dog ran away.  Linking verbs:  connect the subject to a noun or an adjective that describes it.  Most common are am, is, are, was and were.  Helping verbs: come before the main verb to tell about the action.  Some are- will, has, had, have, could, would, should, do, does, and did.  (We didn't get to it last week;)
  • Parts of Speech Grammar Packet- Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Article Adjectives, adverbs and types of sentences.

  • February Reading calendars will be due on March 3rd.  If you misplace the calendar, a note or an email will work as well. (100 points)
  • Monday and Wednesday students will do 30 minutes of IXL on Fractions.  Look for the yellow stars.

Valentine's Day information:
We will have a simple Valentine's Day celebration in our classroom on Tuesday, February 14th.  I am sending a note home on Monday with your child with information as well as student names.  If you would like to send in any treats to enjoy during the party that is fine as well and we have 31 students.  Students will need to decorate a container at home to hold their valentines in from their classmates with their name well displayed. Please keep it at home until the week of Valentine's.

  • Order pizza on Tuesday to eat pizza for lunch on Wednesday. $1 a slice for pepperoni or cheese.
  • Valentine's Day party on Tuesday, Feb 14th.  We have cookies, plates and juice boxes already spoken for.:)

  • Students will have paper homework for math on Tuesday and Wednesday and they are due the following days.  
  • January Reading calendars are due. Please send them in as soon as possible. A note or an email will work as well if you don't have the paper.
  • Monday and Wednesday students will do 30 minutes of IXL on 3rd grade Math or 3rd grade Language Arts.
