➦Reading a few more chapters from our class book, Trumpet of the Swan, and answering comprehension questions.
➦Finishing our packet on parts of speech.

➦Working on third grade reading, language arts and math skills in our morning work.

➦Reviewing our end of year third grade math assessment as a class. This will take us several days to complete.
➦Working on multiplication fact fluency.
➦Math facts games.
➤Homework:
➦We will not have any paper homework this week as it is short.
➦Students should work on multiplication fluency on IXL. At least 30 minutes of practice between Wednesday and Friday.
➦Reading at home or on MyOn and record your minutes read on the calendar.
➽March reading calendars are due by April 3rd, Monday. They are worth 100 points.

Reading and Language Arts:
- Parts of Speech Grammar Packet- Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Article Adjectives, adverbs and types of sentences.
- Working on Prefixes and suffixes and defining what they mean and how they change a root word.
- We started our next book today, E.B. White's Trumpet of the Swan. We also started our comprehension and vocabulary packet that we will use with the book. I hope the kids have as much fun reading this book as I have reading it !
- Working on vocabulary word of the week: justify: To prove something is right or reasonable.
Math:
- Math 4 Today.
- Reviewing third grade math skills
- CCSS: Lesson 10 Compare unit fractions by reasoning about their size using fraction strips.
Homework:
- February Reading calendars were due on March 3rd. If you misplace the calendar, a note or an email will work as well. (100 points)
- Monday: Students have a quick math paper using the number line. Should only take 5 minutes.
- Tuesday: No homework or IXL- Music Program night
- Wednesday: Students will have Lesson 10 paper homework that is due the following day. (5 points)
- Thursday: students will do 30 minutes of IXL on Fractions. Look for the yellow stars on W.20 and W.21.
- Reading on MyOn is always a choice and can be recorded on your reading calendar for minutes read.

- Order pizza on Tuesday to eat pizza for lunch on Wednesday. $1 a slice for pepperoni or cheese.
- Second and Third grade Music Program is on Tuesday, March 14th at 7:00 pm in the high school gym.
- Students are allowed to dress up nicely or dress up in a music era like 1950's rock and roll, country, Motown,etc.
- Krew's Crew tshirt orders are due to the school no later than Friday, May 17th. An order form is attached to an email I will send.
- Hoop Dance registration forms and money are due no later than Friday, May 17th. You can choose Monday or Tuesday as Mrs. H Evans will have a beginners group and an intermediate group going on both days. She did a demonstration for us and it was so awesome!

Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration week: It's Dr. Seuss's birthday on March 2nd and the National Read Across America Celebration as well. So we thought it would be fun to participate in the following ways:
- Tuesday: "Sock"ceed in Reading! (Wear wild socks!)
- Wednesday: Seuss, So cool to read! (Wear sunglasses or cool hats)
- Thursday: Dr. Seuss's birthday! (Dress up like Dr. Seuss or character from his books.
- Friday: Curl up with a good book! (Wear Pajamas and if you have a favorite Dr. Seuss book you can bring it, too!
- All school dress code modesty rules apply. Those not participating will need to wear school dress code.
- This is what our classroom will be doing so please check your other children's classroom blogs and newsletters for information about how they will be celebrating.

Valentine's Day information:
We will have a simple Valentine's Day celebration in our classroom on Tuesday, February 14th. I am sending a note home on Monday with your child with information as well as student names. If you would like to send in any treats to enjoy during the party that is fine as well and we have 31 students. Students will need to decorate a container at home to hold their valentines in from their classmates with their name well displayed. Please keep it at home until the week of Valentine's.
